AbsonsGeo — Privacy Policy

AbsonsGeo is an employee attendance application distributed exclusively to employees of registered client businesses. The app is not available to the general public and has no public sign-up. All user accounts are provisioned by the employer's HR department.


1. Data We Collect

1.1 Attendance Records

Clock-in time, clock-out time, date, and GPS coordinates at the time of clock-in. This is the core data the app exists to record.


1.2 Location

GPS coordinates are collected only at the exact moment an employee clocks in or out. Location is not collected continuously, not collected in the background, and not used for any purpose other than verifying the employee is within the employer's defined work site boundary.


1.3 Device Identifier

A randomly generated anonymous ID created once per app installation. Used to verify the employee is using their registered device. No device name, phone number, IMEI, or hardware identifier is collected.


1.4 Account Credentials

Employee username and password. Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes — the actual password is never stored or readable by anyone.


2. Face Data and Biometric Information

AbsonsGeo does not capture, process, store, or transmit any face image, face photograph, face scan, or biometric template.

AbsonsGeo uses the device's native biometric authentication system — specifically Apple's Face ID via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework — to verify that the employee is physically present before a clock-in is recorded. The app receives only a pass or fail result from the device's operating system. No face image, facial geometry, or biometric data of any kind is accessed by AbsonsGeo or transmitted to any server.


2.1 What Is Stored

Nothing related to face or biometrics. The pass/fail authentication result is used momentarily and discarded. No face data persists in any form.


2.2 What Is Not Stored

No face photograph, no face image, no facial geometry, no biometric template, no camera frame.


2.3 Face Verification Server

AbsonsGeo previously evaluated a third-party face verification server during development. This server was decommissioned and has never been used in the production application. No face data was ever transmitted to or stored on that server in production.


2.4 Third Parties

No face or biometric data is shared with any third party. Apple's Face ID operates entirely on the device under Apple's own privacy framework. AbsonsGeo receives no biometric information from Apple.


2.5 Retention

Since no face or biometric data is collected, there is no retention period to define.


2.6 Deletion Requests

Employees may request deletion of their attendance records by contacting their HR manager or emailing software@absons.ae.


3. Location Data

AbsonsGeo requests location permission to verify the employee is within the company's GPS-defined work boundary at the time of clocking in. Location is:

  • Collected only at the moment of clock-in or clock-out
  • Not tracked in the background
  • Not tracked continuously
  • Not shared with any third party
  • Stored as part of the attendance record for up to 2 years in accordance with UAE labour law payroll audit requirements (Article 17, UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021)

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on a private server operated by Absons IT Solutions & Equipments, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

  • Data is not hosted on public cloud platforms accessible to third parties
  • Access is restricted to the employer's authorized HR managers and Absons IT administrators
  • All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS
  • Passwords are stored using bcrypt one-way hashing
  • Device binding prevents account access from unregistered devices

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with any third party, with the following limited exceptions:

  • The employer's authorized HR manager, who has access only to their own employees' attendance records
  • As required by applicable UAE law or in response to a lawful request from a government authority

No data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.


6. Data Retention

Attendance records are retained for up to 2 years to satisfy UAE labour law requirements for payroll and employment record-keeping. After this period, records may be deleted upon employer request or employee request submitted through HR.


7. Your Rights

Employees have the right to:

  • Request access to their personal attendance data
  • Request correction of inaccurate records
  • Request deletion of their data, subject to applicable legal retention obligations
